Description

When celebrities we admire speak, we tend to listen. When the NBA walks out of the playoffs in protest, we pay attention. We are at an inflection point, where entertainment and its creators, athletes, and stars, play increasingly powerful roles in activism and social change. So, what does the future hold? Why does inclusive representation matter and what role does popular culture play in transforming our perceptions and beliefs? Is there inherent responsibility with reaching millions of people around the world across all manner of political, economic, and national divides?

This session will explore the evolving norms and power of entertainment as a vehicle for social change. In conversation with industry leaders and creators, we will explore the complexity and responsibility of being in the spotlight

This session is part of our Cultivate the Mind track, which will examine how power and privilege relate to social justice, climate change and the environment, healthcare, philanthropy, media and entertainment, and so much more. We will explore how to build from here, what needs to be left behind, our communal responsibility as leaders, and how to reconnect to the web of life.
