Biography
Pansy Tun Thein is currently serving as an Executive Director of the Local Resource Centre (LRC) in Yangon, Myanmar. The LRC serves as a coordinating body and promotes strengthening of civil society organizations (CSOs) and NGOs on organizational development, human rights, good governance, accountability, transparency, and civic engagement, health and environmental issues. LRC network covers around 1200 CSOs. She has 25 years of experience on managing humanitarian and development programmes.
Also serving as a National Adviser to Gender Equality Network (GEN), a network of about 140 women focused organizations (local and international Non-Governmental Organizations) and also Technical Resource Persons to promote gender equality and women empowerment.
She served as Assistant Representative of UNFPA (United Nations Population Fund), Myanmar from 2000-2012.
Previously served as Research Documentalist in United Nations ESCAP in Bangkok, Thailand for 23 years from 1977 to 2000.
Holder of a Master of Public Health from Walden University, USA, Master in Librarianship from the University of North Carolina, USA, and Bachelor of Science in Social Work from the University of the Philippines.
